About Football Season Clock

Football Season Clock answers one question at a glance: how much football is left? From the season opener to the Super Bowl, the progress bar fills one game at a time. All 285 games count, regular season and playoffs. When the season ends, the page becomes a countdown to the next kickoff.

How it works

Each completed game adds 1/285th of the bar. Games in progress move the football forward based on the quarter and the game clock. Scores come from public scoreboard data and refresh every minute while games are on.

Next season's kickoff date is a projection (the Thursday after Labor Day) until the NFL releases its schedule in May. Then we switch to the official date.
